Commotion in the Ocean

Eliza, her cousins and I ventured to the New York Aquarium this past weekend. The Aquarium is officially known as Commotion in the Ocean around here.

We were joined by Matthew and Adriana, who convinced us to put Sea World on our 2011 "bucket list" to see some real Commotion in the Ocean!

Matthew helped Eliza channel her inner German tourist by wearing their socks with sandals and black socks with sneakers.

And then there was Peter who had a run in with Nathan's hot dogs, but that is a whole other post!

Katie joined us too for part of the day, and I'll update with her photos when Matthew emails them to me :)

Eliza had quite an animal packed week, with a bit of Rumble in the Jungle at the zoo. The zoo trip inspire Eliza to draw with chalk "Camel with Mixed Colors on Sand" which is unusual since Eliza tends to prefer not to mix her colors:

Eliza does seem to prefer the two humped camel to the one humped camel, claiming that the one humped camel just looks like a funny donkey. Go figure the thinking of a 4+ year old.

This is Eliza's last week of school and we'll head off to the real Commotion in the Ocean and Rumble in the Jungle, Saba. Her penguin bag is packed with toys and she has her travel clothes all picked out. Since my good friend who tends my garden has been ill for the past few months, I suspect my garden does look like a jungle, but what better place for Eliza to go on an iguana hunt or a snake hunt, two favorite pastimes of hers while on Saba.

When we get back Eliza starts her evaluations at the Child Study Center which will hopefully give me some idea of the most appropriate kindergarten setting for her in 2011. I somehow suspect that this coming fall and spring you'll see more than a handful of blog posts about that little adventure :)

You Can Never Have Too Much Hula

Thanks to my cousins Tracey and Charlie, Eliza got to attend he first luau. Thankfully she did not have to witness a whole pig get baked, but she did enjoy the other luau traditions:

Eliza fell into bed saying over and over "too much hula."

Prematurity... Should It Be a Classification for Special Needs Services?

It is hard to fathom that in a couple of days Eliza will be ten. I look back on the past decade and and am amazed, and often baffled, how sh...
