Lines of the Week

Let's do a quick review:

This week has been filled with 4 fun-filled doctor visits, a chest x-ray, a weekend with my beyond stubborn mother, and the eternal search for clothes for Eliza to wear to preschool.

Scene 1
: Mother is to watch 23 pound Eliza for 2 hours so I can take advantage of $200 worth of Gymbucks. Mother's goal: get Eliza to drink 5 ounces of formula.

I get home from Gymboree and ask "hey what did Eliza eat?"

Answer: "Well she wouldn't even try the formula but she ate a lot of sprinkles."

Yes folks SPRINKLES. Those colorful things that go on your Mr. Softee Ice Cream Cone. Those things that have so few calories even Mayor Bloomberg is not mandating that the package list the nutritional information.

Scene 2: At Gyumboree:

"Can I help you?"

"Yes, I am looking for clothes for a 23 pound 36 inch 40 month old child."

"We don't make clothes for little people that size."

Scene 3: A telephone call from the neurologist's secretary:

"Eliza's MRI is normal, the doctor will see her in 6 months."

"But her face isn't normal, don't you think that merits something less than a 6 month wait?"

Silence.

Scene 4: Name withheld upon request:

"Well do you think it could be allergies?"

"I only took the summer course on allergies in between Patent Law and Elder Law, but let me google that and get back to you."

  1. Ugh.

Is 2T Gymboree long enough for her still? If so, you could take it in at the waist...I know, totally not the ideal, but at least they'd stay up. A couple of the Gymboree 2T are also adjustable waist...

or maybe she can start wearing skirts and tights a lot? if she will put up with tights. Sydney's not a fan. :|

  2. Every physician E has ends up with "well, what do you think it is?"

How much would it cost to have $200 of Gymboree clothes altered...400 maybe?

  3. The 2T is just long enough for now and if they have the elastic adjustment thingie they can work. Winter though will be dresses and the dreaded tights.

  5. Okay, I know LongRifle weighs in @ 27 lbs and 36 1/2 inches (and every pound does make a difference), BUT I buy her 2T, sometimes 3T (although not Gymboree) and cheat by sewing a small stitch on each side of the waist. Not ideal by any means, but it keeps those pants/shorts up over her skinny little butt! Poor kid, she can even still wear her 12 month clothes (except they're all WAY too short).

Hey! I just got an idea. How about buying her the 2T pants and having someone sew a few ruffles on the bottom to extend them. It probably wouldn't cost as much as having them altered. Kind of like this one... http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=28220805&ref=sr_list_2&&ga_search_query=girls+pants+with+ruffles&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&order=date_desc&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title or this http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=22468606&ref=sr_list_6&&ga_search_query=girls+jeans+with+ruffles&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&order=date_desc&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title Just an idea, but MAYBE it might work?!

    Hugs & Blessings!

  6. MamaChanga you are one smart woman! If you can't get the pants to meet the ankles bring the ankles to the pants!

I think I am going to break out the 18 to 24 month pants and start sewing! (or actually have my mother start sewing!)
