Contrary to popular belief, Santa does not live in the North Pole.
He lives in New York City, because really, it is the most exciting place to be at Christmas. Why would Santa want to hang out with a bunch of polar bears, when you can have this place as your home base:
Eliza will tell you that to get the new North Pole, you only need to take two subways:
And make sure everyone on the subway knows what you want from Santa, just in case they would like to get you a Wii:
Instead of navigating snowy footpaths to Santa's house, you just have to make your way through the evening commuters at the 34th Street station:
And that's where you find Santa's house:
First, it is important to check out how Santa has decorated his house at Macy's:
Make sure everyone in your family has their reindeer antlers on:
Be nice to Santa's elves and give them a thumbs up:
It is important to give your list some serious thought, in case there are last minute revisions:
Double check that you family elves are looking cheery for Santa:
Try to act sincere and deserving while Santa is reading your list:
Explain in detail what a Wii is to Santa:
Approach Santa with reverence:
Explain the whole Wii thing again just in case he didn't get it the first time:
And then act pleased as punch when he tells you that you have been good and this might result in a Wii being delivered to your apartment, via the fire escape, which frankly is far safer for Santa than squeezing down a chimney:
Be sure to explain to Super Pete what a Wii is so that he can help you play with it:
And last, but not least, eat a dirty water hot dog from a street vendor to bring your Mama the best Christmas present since you were born:
And that my friends is how we find Santa in New York City!
She ate a hot dog? Really? That's great!!! (She must really, really want that Wii!)
ReplyDeleteI loved reading this entire post--I've never been to NYC but your photos showed me the magic of the city during this season. Thank you!

ReplyDeletePretty cool that she tolerates the antlers! Cute jacket too.
ReplyDeleteLOVE seeing her eat that hot dog!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, and I was already in love with this post before I came to the hot dog. But that hot dog is the icing on the cake. Or on second thought, it is the cake. AWESOME! Thanks for spreading such great joy! That sure is one special little girl you have. Nut doesn't fall far from the tree. :) (Oh, and it must be the corniness of the holiday season that has me using so many cliches in one comment.)
ReplyDeleteHot diggity dog. Who knew it only took street food? I guess you'll be off to Khaosan road next?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Santa gave you your wish early. good job Eliza
She ate a hot dog! That is an awesome Christmas present.
ReplyDeleteBreathless to see the end of this post. Brava to you both. What an accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteBelated happy holidays to you and Eliza. we love the card you sent I show everyone the card of Elizabeth's virtual friend in NYC.
ReplyDeleteYeah for hot dog eating???
I'm telling ya...You need to take up writing, and this kid outta be in the pictures - the moving kind. Or maybe she should just be a print model.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are incredible. Each one individually is amazing. As a dialogue - it's a mini-movie.
If there was an award for single best post on the internet...this would win.
Did she really eat a hot dog?
